February camp is almost here!

February Camp will take place at the Nashua Boys and Girls Club starting on Friday evening at 7PM and ending Sunday afternoon at 4PM. The date of the camp is February 17, 18 and 19. This camp is for percussion and brass only. There is no guard at the February Camp.

Friday night is for brass only. Saturday and Sunday are for the full music ensemble. All meals are provided and new members interested in our brass section are welcome to attend at any time throughout the weekend.

The goals of the weekend will be to learn more music, increase our movement and visual vocabulary and to continue fittings for uniforms.

Please remember to have all fees, paperwork and sponsor forms with you.

The winter has proven to be a very exciting time for the corps. We look forward to seeing everyone soon.

Best of luck to all of our winter percussion and winter guard members! Do well and make us proud. We will be cheering for you!!!!!!

January Updates

We can never say thank you enough to all of the volunteers, family and friends of the corps who came by to help, wish us luck and lend a “sewing hand” in making the January 2012 camp a great time for all of us. Our next brass and percussion practice session is Sunday, January 29th from 10AM to 4PM at the Nashua Boys and Girls Club. We are still seeking brass players interested in joining the corps. Please email us at info@spartansdbc.org for more membership information.

Members have been given their ad book and sponsor forms. If you can, take an ad out in our 2012 program or just help in any small way. So many of our members are looking to sponsors, family and friends to give them their support. Please help our members the best way you can.

A very special welcome to the students from Nashua North HS who came by and visited with us this weekend.

January Camp is here!

Welcome to the first camp weekend of the 2012 season! Here is a brief reminder of the schedule and what you need to achieve the ultimate level of success during the weekend.

- Camp is held at the Boys Club in Nashua from 7PM Friday evening until 4PM Sunday afternoon.

- Have an open mind. Meet new friends, learn from new teachers and get ready to experience the beginning of a new adventure in your performance career.

- Remember to bring your sleeping bag, tooth brush etc, work out clothes for the weekend, music and of course an appetite for some great Spartan cooking. All meals are provided by the corps throughout the weekend. Members are asked to sleep at the Boys Club for the full weekend.

- All members will be interviewed by the administration of the corps and have a detailed education plan provided to them throughout the weekend. Please make sure all your paperwork is completed and your first tuition payment is ready to be paid.

- If you are new to the corps and this is your first time with us.. WELCOME!! We have brass spots to fill. Please take the time to stop by throughout the weekend and check it out. If you can, plan on spending the weekend and learn all you can about the 2012 show.

- Camp is mandatory for all current members. Horns start practice Friday night at 7PM, Percussion adds in Saturday morning at 8AM and the Guard is with us all day Sunday. The weekend is busy, times are listed on the schedule page. Please make sure you let us know if you have any conflicts throughout the weekend. If you have a school conflict and can only be there part of the camp that is fine with us. Remember, school is very important to your success as a Spartan.

Finally.. have FUN! We look forward to seeing everyone. The Apple Raffle drawing is Sunday of camp. Get those raffle tickets in to us by the weekend.

Spartan Bingo. The place to be!

Congratulations to our many bingo players who always support the corps. The corps gave away a grand prize during the month of December. Members of the corps help at bingo and have a chance to meet and greet the players. Spartan bingo takes place on Tuesday nights at the Eagle’s Wing Function Center in Nashua.

January Camp Details…

Camp will begin on Friday, January 13th at 7PM and end at 4PM on Sunday, January 15th.

This is a full sleep over weekend and all meals are provided.

Friday is BRASS ONLY from 7PM to 11PM

Saturday starts at 7AM with wake, stretch and breakfast. Music and visual practice from 8AM until 11PM at night. (Reminder that Saturday is for Horns and all Percussionists)

Sunday starts at 7AM with wake, stretch and breakfast. Music and ensemble time will take place from 8AM until 4PM. (Reminder that the COLOR GUARD is a part of the Sunday practice session)

If you have schedule conflicts please make sure we know about them and that you attend as much of the camp weekend as possible.

Please remember to bring your fees and application forms with you. Interviews and educational plans for all members will be a priority with the administrative team and caption heads throughout the weekend.

Members are invited to sleep at the club the night before your practice day starts (Percussion on Friday night, Guard on Saturday night. We do ask that members not drive back and forth each day. Camp weekends are set up for a brief look at the tour and travel experience that makes the drum corps experience so unique and special.)

Please remember to pack your towel, shower needs, sleeping bag and pillow and any medication you may need. Sneakers, sweat pants and t-shirts are all you need for the weekend. Jeans, dress shoes, etc are not needed. A reminder that all electronic equipment is your responsibility and that we have a NO CELL PHONE USE policy while practices are in session.

Any new members coming to learn about the corps are invited to participate in the camp weekend. The corps is still actively seeking brass members for the 2012 season. Lets make it happen!
